Shreveport, LA's The Times on August 6, 1966, wrote, "Stations in Ashland and Hopkinsville, Ky., Dayton, Bryan and Akron, Ohio, Dublin, Ga., Jackson, Miss., Barnwell, S.C., and Corning, N.Y., announced a Beatle boycott Friday."

United Press International (as printed in the Long Beach, CA, newspaper The Independent on August 6, 1966) reported, "One of the radio executives demanding an apology from Lennon was Dave Hensley, program director of WXLI, Dublin, Ga., who said that the Beatles 'seem to have forget that disc jockeys made them what they are today. They've bitten the hand that fed them and that hand is now going to bite back.' "
