WFLS might not have instituted a full ban but instead what could be called a "soft ban," diminishing the band's presence on the station. The Free Lance Star in Fredericksburg reported on August 4, 1966, "WFLS director J. William Poole said that no decision had been reached as to whether that station would ban the popular singing group or not, but he said that Beatle records will definitely not be played as much."
