The Monroe News-Star on August 5, 1966, reported, "Spokesmen of radio stations KUZN of West Monroe and KNOE of Monroe said the stations have taken their Beatle records off the air. Said the spokesman at KUZN: 'So far we have stopped playing their records. However, we don't know what the effect of the latest release will be. We heard he (Lennon) was quoted out of context, and that changes the statement somewhat.' "

In 1966, KUZN broadcast at 1,000 watts during the daytime, airing farm and market reports, regular newscasts, and "variety music." The station apparently brought live music to business events in the community.
