The Pensacola News Journal reported on August 6, 1966, "DeFuniak Springs' 'Top 40' announcer Bill Fukua, 'Sweet Williams' to his WDSP listeners, Friday broke seven of the Beatles' biggest hits while on the air. 'And 'Paperback Writer' was real hot,' said the disc jockey.... The DeFuniak Springs station took a hurried straw vote Friday afternoon and out of 26 calls, only three supported the Beatles. 'We're banning them,' said Fukua, 'following public opinion.' Youngsters and grownups participated in the polling, Fukua reported."
