WETU banned The Beatles!
Evidence of the Ban:
According to the Alabama Journal on August 4, 1966, "At least one radio station near Montgomery has already banned the records of the English mop-topped quartet.... Bob McKinnon, manager of WETU in Wetumpka, said this morning that his station had banned all Beatle records 'until there is a complete retraction, or at least a change in the statement. If it is a joke by the Beatles, then it'll still have to be changed. Until then, they're all out with us. We're not playing them,' McKinnon said. The radio station manager said he received a 'great reply' from listeners. Responses favorable to the station's action have come from Montgomery and Prattville, as well as from Wetumpka, McKinnon said."
