On August 5, 1966, the Boston Globe reported, "Three Massachusetts radio stations have joined the boycott of Beatles' records, including WREB, Holyoke; WGAW, Gardner, and WEIM, Fitchburg. WREB program manager Wayne Dennis said Thursday his station 'will discontinue to play all records, past, present and future, released by the Beatles.'"
The Holyoke Transcript-Telegram added on August 6, 1966, "According to WREB's Dennis, 'We will put the Beatles records back on if the Beatles did not mean what it seemed by their statement.'" The Transcript-Telegram also pointed out that WREB "is not a top forty format station and does not play Beatle records" as much as others in the area.
