The Associated Press (as printed in The Spartanburg Herald on August 17, 1966) reported on the conclusion of WGRD's ban after Lennon's apology, "Manager Jim Francis of WGRD in Grand Rapids, Mich., manager Sam Yacovazzi of WONE in Dayton, Ohio, and spokesmen for KAKC, Tulsa, Okla., KTEE in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and WABC, New York City, said they had lifted the ban in view of Lennon's apology for his remark that the Beatles were 'more popular that Jesus.'"
