KYSM banned The Beatles!
Evidence of the Ban:
As reported in the Asbury Park Press on August 4, 1966, "At Mankato, Minn., Station KYSM announced a Beatle ban, and disc jockey Dave Garven said, 'We urge other stations to follow our lead and take similar action.' "
The next day (August 5, 1966), the Star Tribune in Minneapolis wrote, " 'We've banned their records until they clarify their statement on Christianity,' said Robert E. DeHaven, general manager of KYSM AM-FM, Mankato, Minn. 'We're not banning anyone else singing their songs. It's too bad the Beatles keep on getting publicity.' The station plans to give away all their Beatles albums and singles at a teen dance Saturday."
