Evidence of the Ban:

According to the Boston Globe on August 4, 1966, "A Fitchburg radio station, WEIM, said it would ban Beatle records because of the Lennon statement. Jerry Olin, program director, said, 'We feel we are a public servant, and we cannot support of help publicize persons who hold such views.'" A United Press International story (as printed in the Buffalo News on August 4, 1966) reported, "In Fitchburg, Mass, WEIM declared a Beatle ban and opened its telephone lines for audience reaction. In an eight-hour period, the station got 291 favorable responses and only 33 complaints."
