WLST banned The Beatles!

Evidence of the Ban:

The Escanaba Daily Press on August 5, 1966, reported, "Radio Station WLST of Escanaba today announced that it was joining the growing number of American radio stations which are banning the broadcasting of records by Britain's Beatles."

The Daily Press updated the story the following day, "Chuck Bonamer, news director of Radio Station WLST which on Friday announced that it was banning broadcast of Beatle records, today reported that mail received today divides evenly -- 50-50 -- on the station's stand.... Bonamer said a woman phoned that 25 members of her church group supported WLST's ban. A man wrote: 'I agree with WLST's policy of showing disapproval of the people who put themselves above God. There is enough trouble in the USA and in the world without the Beatles putting themselves more popular than God.'... A girl wrote: 'Banning Beatle records is just striking at teenagers. We know we're unwanted by the adults and that's why there are people like Bob Dylan, to protect us from the older generation.' (Bonamer is 20.)"
